privacy notice

last updated · June 2026

whim is built privacy-first — the less we know, the better it works. a full, formal privacy notice will land with our public launch. here's the honest short version in the meantime.

the short version

  • no photos. you're an illustrated character, not a headshot.
  • coarse location only, asked for only when you cast a spark — never in the background. we keep an approximate area, not precise coordinates.
  • approximate distance only is shown to others — never a map, a pin, or your exact position.
  • chats are temporary and are deleted after they expire (24 hours from a match).
  • no feed, no followers, no ad-tracking profiles.

what's coming here

the full notice will set out, in detail: exactly what we collect and why, how long we keep it, the legal bases we rely on, who processes data on our behalf, and the rights you have over your information (including access and deletion). account and chat data can already be deleted from within the app today.

contact

privacy questions in the meantime? write to hello@whimapp.example and we'll answer plainly.

this is a placeholder summary, not yet our final legal privacy notice.
